OUR MOTIVATION: One of the biggest gaps in social mobility to children, teenagers and adults, especially those from low social economic background is the lack of skills, knowledge and opportunities to unlock their talents and realise their full potential. For example, when a student does not have the required GCSE/A-LEVEL grades in Maths, English or IT and a mentor to provide guidance and support, he or she may find it challenging to secure an admission at his/her college, university of choice or an apprenticeship.
Therefore, that student or individual cannot achieve his/her goal to move to the next academic level or to earn,
learn and acquire lifelong employable skills - critical in facilitating his/her movement from a lower to a higher social-economic level. Hence, social mobility can only become a reality when these gaps in knowledge, skill and social capital are closed. Therefore, at A&F Tutors, our goal is to close these knowledge, skills and mentoring gaps through our private tutoring and mentoring services; with the goal of making a positive and lasting presence to the knowledge, skills, prospects and life of the child, teenager, adult or professional [be it academic, professional or personal.
Research studies by the Equality Trust shows that children of highly paid people are more likely to be highly paid and children of low paid people more likely to be low earners. Also, these findings reveal strong evidence that education is a strong driver of social mobility.

Michael’s Feedback: Facilitating Transition from Year 6 To Secondary School
“I want to say a big thank you, to my teacher from A&F Tutors who help to prepare and do well in my 6 SATS exam and also supported me a lot in applying for a place at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Thanks to him, I am now in one of the best schools in Southwark and in the country”.
Leyon
Year 7 SATS high achiever
"When I started year 6 I was struggling with SATS questions in Maths and English. Then my mum got me a private tutor from A& F Tutors, Mr Aloys. I like him because he was funny, made difficult questions look easy, gave me a lot of homework to practice and past SAT papers. I got a high attainment in year 6 SATS English and above expected standard in Maths. God bless you teacher, you are the best."
Feedback from Daniel:
Apprenticeship interview preparation and mentoring with Daniel
“Thanks to a holistic support from Mr Aloysius Fontama at A&F Tutors in sourcing suitable apprentice opportunities for me, assisting me to prepare professional CVs and cover letters, and in preparing for interviews using mock sessions, I have just secured a level 4 apprenticeship opportunity in a Further Education college as a Business Support Officer. For me I think what makes A&F Tutors different is the their approach from planning, strategy and implementation of how to secure an apprenticeship plus unconditional support and mentoring to help me achieve my goal”
Our tutoring approach is holistic. This means our approach is not focused only on the individual development of the child to pass a test or exam, but on the development of the person.
It is aimed at preparing the child, student or adult to develop knowledge. Our service priorities the need to help pupils/students complete their homework and understand concepts taught in class.
With the use of recommended personal development and textbooks to extend the theoretical concepts and acquire essential 21st century skills.
Research carried out by A&F Tutors in partnership with City University as part of a social mobility project, shows that over 70% of children from low-socioeconomic background do not complete their homework satisfactorily or do not do it at all.
