• LEARN MORE AND EARN MORE THAN THEIR PEERS IN SIMILAR AGE GROUP who go to University

  • ENABLES THEM TO GAIN MORE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE THAN THEIR PEERS, MUCH EARLIER IN LIFE – which prepares them better for future career/life opportunities or challenges

  • PROVIDES AN UNRIVALLED PLATFORM WHICH EXPOSES YOUNG PEOPLE TO WIDE RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES - ALLOWING THEM TO GAIN EMPLOYABLE SKILLS, DEVELOP STEADILY IN LINE WITH THEIR ABILITIES AND STRENGTHS

  • SAVES YOUNG PEOPLE FROM ACQUIRING OVER £50,000 IN DEBT FROM UNIVERSITY FEES, but at them same time apprenticeship provides an ALTERNATIVE ROUTE TO ACHIEVE A DEGREE FREE OF CHARGE, WHILST LEARNING/EARNING MONEY, AND GAINING RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.

  • For example, a teenager, say Child A who choses an IT apprenticeship route after A levels will have more knowledge, skills and experience after three years, earned more money, free of University fees debt and arguably be financially and economically better than CHILD B who CHOOSES TO STUDY FOR an IT degree at UNIVERSITY.

  • At the same time, Child A, could achieve  an EQUIVALENT DEGREE  QUALIFICATION IN Information Technology as part of his apprenticeship programme – but he has the chance to apply THEORY LEARNED IN CLASS TO PRACTICE WHICH CHILD B DOES NOT HAVE -  further justifying why an apprenticeship route could be a better choice for some teenagers.

Kofi (Apprentice Feedback)

Trainee Administrator, Southwark Council

After a 2 years scholarship at Sutton United to become a professional footballer expired at Sutton United F.C,  I was very confused about what I wanted to pursue as a career. However, with an interest in property, I turned to A & F Tutors for help. My mentor from A & F Tutors [Aloys] advised me to do an apprenticeship, provided full support with sourcing opportunities, CV, personal statement and coaching me in preparation for interviews. Thanks to this support I have secured an apprenticeship with Southwark Council in properties.

  • Social and economic mobility means the movement of peoples, families or households from one social or economic class to another within the society – be it upward or downward etc

  • OUR FOCUS: Our focus at A & F TUTORS  is in Upward social and economic mobility  - enables the child of a labourer, care support worker, cleaner etc to become a medical doctor, University lecturer, lawyer or engineer. This means the child of this individual or family has been more successful in the society because he or she has achieved a higher social status (Social mobility) and earns much higher income [economic mobility] than his/her parents/family.

  • THEREFORE, OUR GOAL AT A&F TUTORS IS FACILITATE THIS MOVEMENT OR PROCESS FROM A  LOW SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CLASS, FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS [ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM LOW SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUND OR FINANCIALLY DISADVANTAGED BACKGROUND] to achieve upward social and economic mobility  using tools such as education and apprenticeship.

  • A&F Tutors does this by helping teenagers/adults to ACCESS OPPORTUNITIES WHERE THEY CAN MAKE BETTER USE OF THEIR APTITUDE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS and REMOVING BARRIERS to secure BETTER JOBS or APPRENTICESHIP SUCH AS TRAVEL COSTS, LIVING COSTS,  SOCIAL AND CULTURAL barriers [lack of awareness, negative perception about apprenticeship e.g. a child going to University is perceived by some parents especially those from Black and Ethnic Minority background as the Benchmark for success, and apprenticeship is for dropouts]

  • LACK OF SUPPORT HOLISTIC SUPPORT E.G. HOW AND WHERE TO SOURCE APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES, WRITING PROFESSIONAL CVS, COVER LETTERS AND PREPARING FOR INTERVIEWS]

  • IDENTIFYING WHICH JOB OR APPRENTICESHIPS ARE BEST FOR THEM  BASED ON THE INDIVIDUAL’S VALUES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PASSION

  • RESEARCH EVIDENCE: Research studies carried out by  A&F Tutors in partnership with City University  shows about 95% of young, parents and families from low -socioeconomic background, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM BLACK AND ETHNIC MINORITY BACKGROUNDS

  • Do not know the important role of apprenticeship as a catalyst for social and economic mobility, belief apprenticeship is for dropouts and a child attending University is a benchmark for Success

  • Their parents perceive their child “going to University” is a guarantee for social and economic mobility, - which in reality is not the case because most graduates LACK EMPLOYABLE SKILLS, ARE IN DEBT, STRUGGLE TO SECURE WELL PAID JOBS, HENCE STRUGGLE TO MOVE UP THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY LADDER

  • And Finally these young people do not know WHAT APPRENTICESHIP PATH TO PURSUE, and perhaps, most importantly, “HOW TO SECURE AN APPRENTICESHIP” EVEN IF THEY WANT IT.

  • HOW A & F TUTORS ADDRESSES THIS PROBLEM:  OUR GOAL AT A & F TUTORS IS TO ELIMINATE THESE MENTAL AND STRUCTURAL BARRIERS TO SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY BY CARRYING RESEARCH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LEADING ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS LIKE CITY UNIVERSITY, London, and using research findings

  • To INCREASE AWARENESS amongst BMEs, hence removing mental/perception barriers about THE ROLE OF APPRENTICESHIP in acquiring upward social and economic mobility without “demonising” the role of Universities.

  • COACHING AND MENTORING YOUNG PEOPLE/ADULTS WHO HAVE DECIDED TO PURSUE THE APPRENTICESHIP ROUTE TO IDENTIFY:

  • WHICH APPRENTICESHIP IS BEST FOR THEM BASED ON YOUR SKILLS, VALUES AND PASSION

  • TEACH/SUPPORT THEM HOW TO SEARCH FOR OPPORTUNITIES, DEVELOP PROFESSIONAL CVS AND COVER LETTER

  • FINALLY PREPARING THE CANDIDATE FOR INTERVIEWS USING MOCK SESSIONS

  • COST OF APPRENTICESHIP PACKAGES:

  • PRICES RANGE FROM A MINIMUM PRICE OF 150 FOR BASIC PACKAGE AND £300 FOR PREMIUM PACKAGE
